Plinth Completion on the Main Dam at Chimney Hollow Reservoir
Переглядів 7 тис.5 місяців тому
One of the biggest milestones to date at Chimney Hollow Reservoir took place this winter, as the final pour of about 10,800 cubic yards of concrete was placed on the 3,700-foot-long plinth that runs along the center line of the main dam. The plinth will tie together the above-ground elements of the dam to the subsurface portions, providing a watertight connection between the dam’s 350-foot-tall...

Steep-slope grouting on the Chimney Hollow Reservoir Project
Переглядів 7 тис.9 місяців тому
Grouting by its very nature presents its share of challenges and is often referred to by construction managers as one of the toughest aspects of a project to predict. As crews inject a cementation slurry into a foundation to fill cracks and voids below the surface, they deal with a fair amount of unknowns in terms of what the geology looks like beneath them. Even with extensive pre-construction...

Thank you again for all the wonderful videos you guys put up. I always get really excited whenever I see a new video posted on your channel. Much Love! ♥

Are you laser scanning construction progress? 3D laser scanning records every detail visible and allows comparison over time. It also records in 3D the location of everything that is eventually buried. To the accuracy of 2-3mm.

Very nice in depth on different parts that people usually do not see. I really liked this! You need to do the same thing upstream on the pump houses and tunnels. Some of the videos here very briefly go over some of these but its so quick. Even searching for details on the upstream is hit and miss. There is a lot of content here to go over starting from the Windy Gap Reservior, through the pump houses, and tunnels would be really interesting. Lots of opertunities for content creation and education. There is so much history here(a centrury?) .

I was the construction site manager of Alpaslan 2 dam. Alpaslan 2 dam has an asphalt core. The length of the dam is 1000m and the height is 110m. We placed injection galleries inside the dam. Thus, we were able to monitor any leakage situation from within the gallery. The measurable leakage amount was measured as 2lt/sec for the asphalt core. The asphalt core method is really very economical and safe. We designed a special paving machine for the production of asphalt core. But I didn't see it in your project.

@@rblueroan2205I'm not sure where you're located, but as a Western Slope rancher I can relate. Can't help but notice the content you replied to doesn't seem to be self aware enough to consider where all our abundance of water goes and the millions dependant on it down stream. Who deserves river water more, people who built on the river or people who built where there's no river and divert the water through mountains claiming they have a right to it? Every nature loving environmentalist living on the front range is the core contribute of the water shortages in the western US. If it weren't for the front Renee range, there wouldn't be an issue. Such ignorance

@@theamaturepro Sadly most of the water users aren’t aware of its basin of origin , nor how much they waste . . The front range is damaging to the western slope , however so is California , how many millions if not billions of gallons of water do they go through , above and beyond their allotment. As you pointed out they all have their hands out for the upper Colorado water , while we , who live here are under constant strain , especially if you’re in an irrigation district , and not priority water . The ranch I was a kid on in South Park was the third oldest on the Tarryall , Aurora tried to buy the rights , fortunately the owners managed to hold that off . Being in the livestock /farm industry we have to fight all angles , without real allies
